- Description:On February 13, 2021, a catastrophic ice storm devastated the Town of Blackstone causing substantial power outages and damage to trees and other property. The power outage and property damage were catastrophic and required immediate attention. The Town’s employees worked, along with employees from mutual aid agreements to restore the power. Additionally, the Town’s employees worked to clear the roads. The situation caused an immediate threat to the safety of the Town’s Citizens and property. At which time I determined that the restoration of power outages, the removal of debris and the restoration of the welfare of the citizens could not wait until formal purchasing procedures could be completed. The repairs and restoration were mandatory and an emergency. The repairs and restoration were completed between the dates of February 13, 2021 and February 21, 2021.
This contract is being awarded on an emergency basis. On February 17, 2021, the Town entered into a contract with Farmville Wholesale from Farmville, Virginia. The firm was selected because of its immediate availability, familiarity with the Town’s system and close proximity to the Town of Blackstone. It provided electrical supplies, 15KW 480v Unite and electrical supplies, reels and caps at a total cost of $6,551.96.
